This Privacy Policy describes how WifePerfectNotes ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use our Android application. We are committed to being transparent about data practices.
1. Overview
WifePerfectNotes is a local, offline-first notes application. All notes, categories, attachments, voice recordings, and other content you create in the App are stored exclusively on your device. We do not operate servers, we do not create user accounts, and we do not transmit your personal notes or files anywhere.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
The App itself does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Your notes, categories, or any content you create
- Photos or files you attach to notes
- Voice recordings you create in the App
- Your location
- Your contacts
All of the above stays entirely on your device and is never sent to us or any third party by the App.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of WifePerfectNotes displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC.
AdMob may automatically collect and use the following information from your device to serve relevant ads:
- Device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID)
- Device type, model, and operating system version
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. We do not have access to this data. Google's use of advertising data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, which you can read at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by adjusting your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
4. Ad-Free Version
Users who purchase the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase will no longer be served any advertisements. No AdMob SDK activity occurs for ad serving purposes after this purchase is made.
5. Permissions the App Requests
The App requests the following device permissions, used solely to provide features you explicitly invoke:
- Camera — to allow you to take photos and attach them to notes. Photos are saved locally on your device only.
- Microphone / Record Audio — to allow you to record voice notes. Recordings are saved locally on your device only.
- Read External Storage / Write External Storage — to allow you to attach existing files from your device to notes, and to save backup exports to your Downloads folder. Only used on Android 9 and below; not required on Android 10 and above.
- Internet — required for AdMob to serve advertisements, and to download the optional AI transcription model (a one-time download initiated explicitly by you).
No permission is used for any purpose beyond what is described above.
6. Optional AI Transcription Feature
The App includes an optional speech-to-text feature powered by Whisper, a local AI model. If you choose to use this feature, the App downloads a model file (approximately 147 MB) from a public source (HuggingFace). This download is initiated only when you explicitly request it. The transcription itself runs entirely on your device — your audio is never sent to any server.
7. Data Backup and Export
The App includes an optional backup feature that creates a ZIP file of your data and saves it to your device's Downloads folder. This file stays on your device. We have no access to it. If you choose to share this backup file via a third-party app (email, messaging, cloud storage), the privacy practices of that third-party application apply.
8. Children's Privacy
WifePerfectNotes is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App is intended for general adult use.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
